Another Picture on the Wall

What do you have on the wall of your cubicle? In my case, it is not some bricks, it is pictures. And yeah, the title of this post was inspired by Pink Floyd's song, Another Brick in the Wall. πŸ˜‰

Another Picture on the Wall

Do you have a private office at work? If so, what is on the walls around you? Except for a whiteboard and maybe some shelves, is there anything else? Or do you see only the wall’s colour? 🟧 If so, I hope for your sanity that it is a very inspiring colour! 🀣

Personally, I chose to decorate my space with pictures. Illustrations that I want to learn deeply or to reflect on. By having them in my visual, I can quickly take a look at them and I can assimilate them on a longer period. πŸ–ΌοΈ

My office, at the UniversitΓ© de Sherbrooke

The majority of my pictures are not related to technologies, they are about self-development and team development. So, the concepts in them can be applied anywhere in a work team, a board of directors and even a family. So, they are mostly universal. 🌎

Sometimes, the people that come to see me look at the pictures and it sparks a dialogue on one of them. By discussing it with my peers, it also helps me reinforce the concepts and I may even learn something new. And what is the cost to ignite a discussion? Maybe 50 ’, for the printing of a single page in colour. 🌈

Unfortunately, even if these pictures decorate my wall, it has a big drawback: if I want to see them outside work hours, it is impossible. If I want to show a picture to someone outside my organization, I must remember some keywords that lead me to it to be able to search them on the web. It is not very practical when I have not yet memorized them… ⌨️

For these reasons, I have digitized my wall on its proper page: Pictures on my wall. I can now access it at any time and on any device. Also, this way, everybody (like you!) can view them. And, in the present context, it even decreases the risks of COVID-19. Nobody needs to enter my room anymore. 😷

If you do something similar, I would really like to see your wall! 🧱
